Disrupted by Dew

The objective was to create a time-lapse of the milky way using my imaging session as the foreground. What I got was a time-lapse and a demonstration of the effects condensation can have on both the image and equipment.

Fortunately, I do use a dew heater on the telescope so it was only my DSLR cameras and lenses that took a bit of a bath. The images are from the morning after and both cameras are drenched. The cameras, Nikon D750 and D7000 were functionally fine during and afterwards.

We don’t control the weather but we do control our gear so I’ve since invested in a dew strap for the camera lens.

In the time-lapse video, you can see the results of the lens fogging over from the buildup of condensation/dew.
